A step forward: surprised but not caught off guard by autistic children
23 March 2012

A step forward ‘surprised but not caught off guard by autistic children’ were the words that Martin Egge used to say during his meetings at Antenna 112, which he founded with the support of Opere Riunite Buon Pastore, and of which he was the Therapeutic Director. Martin Egge, who passed away on 6 September 2011, was an infant neuropsychiatrist and psychoanalist, member of the Lacanian School of Psychoanalysis. The meeting will be dedicated to him and to his original method, which is the result of years of experience with autistic and psychotic children. Psychoanalysts and operators trained under Lacan's psychoanalysis will give their account concerning their role and experiences with autistic children. It is a commitment based on the belief that the isolated and quirky behaviour of an autistic child hides an individual with a personality and emotions, which can be manifested if the child is deeply understood and constantly supported during growth.
