From 09 to 13 May 2017

The Querini Stampalia Foundation and Scarselli Diamonds present the exhibition Antipode. Paola Brussino and Maria Bruno.

The exhibition, organised by Ugo Bruno, takes place at the Querini Stampalia Foundation from 9th to 13th May 2017, on the occasion of the 57th International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennial.

The exhibition brings to the first floor of Querini Stampalia Palace, the intense research of two Turin artists that are worlds apart.

On the one hand, the street art of Maria Bruno, aka Sister Flash; on the other, the latest work of Paola Brussino, who since the beginning has conversed and engaged with the luxury of the most precious stones.

Two highly personal and polarised visions that find matches and continuity in the punctual severity of the mark, in the ability to create elegant organic shapes and millimetric concentrations of hypnotic lines.

Maria Bruno (Turin, 1966-2016) creates an essential system of art, a precise organisation of flat space, which develops in the geometric contrasts given by strong and artificial colours. Her works take shape from the laying of these colours, emphasised by the extreme closeness of the circles, which, as she loves to say, are "Dots and nothing else."

Paola Brussino experiments with using new and less noble materials in fine jewellery, animated by the intention to change the emotional and conceptual landscape of the stones to rediscover the natural elegance. For Antipode  she has created LILAC TI 22, a ring with titanium weaves and lilac diamond: a unique stone in the world for purity and colour, presented here for the first time at the Querini Stampalia Foundation.

The work is born out of the collaboration with Scarselli, a giant of the rarest natural coloured diamonds, known for the uniqueness and prestige of collections that are now considered classic and have been exhibited at the American Museum of Natural History in New York.
