Stefano Arienti

Disegni Dismessi

9 March – 11 May 2008

curated by Chiara Bertola

In his project, Stefano Arienti is asked to bring out Fondazione Querini's memory and history. He focuses on drawing, which is a recurring theme in the artist's works, and explores its vitality, as if it were a living organism. The exhibition shows a variety of drawings and images concealing, transmigrating or going beyond the mateirals reproducing them to appear on new materials or objects.

All the art works are related to the very meaning of “second hand”, evoking things belonging to a past which is gone and we need to get back.

“Disegni Dismessi” is the title of a piece created by Arienti for his exhibition. It is an old and ripped world map, and some pieces of it are still sticked on a mirror globe, whose meridians and parallels are barely visible.

This project was organized in cooperation with the Veneto Region.
