Museum, Bedroom

strong>The furniture in the rooms of the Museum tell about the history of the interior design during the Republic of Serenissima.

Furniture pieces made of walnut and lacquered wood were inspired by Louis XVI, with a Venetian elegance that reminds us of the English furniture of Queen Anne and Chippendale.

The furnishings of Alvise Querini’s bedroom have particular relevance. The fresco decoration and plaster in a neo-classical style are dated 1790. The furnishings are composed by eight small armchairs and a two-piece set with arched, rounded shapes, typical of Rococo cabinets. There is also a light green lacquered piece with a multi-coloured floral motiff from the 18th century. The bed and two bedside tables have the same colours and decoration. They were commissioned by Alvise and are dated back to the end of the 18th century in the Neo-classical style. A console from around 1780 in blue lacquered wood with a top in sculpted marble with multi-coloured plants and medallions with virile heads completes the bridal chamber decorations. There is also a Murano glass mirror from the first half of the same century.
