The Mazzariol Fund was created in memory of Giuseppe Mazzariol (Venice, 1922-1989) both for his intense activity as an academic, a professor, art and contemporary architecture critic, and for his long contribution in quality of Fondazione Querini Stampalia's President from 1957 to 1974.

Under Mazzariol, Fondazione Querini became a place for meetings, debates and cultural productions open to the city, in line with Count Giovanni Querini Stampalia's will. During his presidency, Mazzariol completed the renovations to Carlo Scarpa's Palace (previously called by Manlio Dazzi) involving many artists belonging to the artistic and cultural world of those years.

In 1992, on the third anniversary of his death, Fondazione Querini organized an exhibition with the intent to continue the course traced by Mazzariol's work with over two hundred publications, as well as many exhibitions and cultural initiatives. On that occasion, a Fund was dedicated to Mazzariol made up of works donated to Fondazione Querini by many of his friends.

The Mazzariol Fund includes works signed by Edmondo Bacci, William Congdon, Mario Deluigi, Mark di Suvero, Paolo Dorigo, Virgilio Guidi, Le Corbusier, Gino Morandis, Zoran Music, Fabrizio Plessi,  Alberto Viani, Luciano Vistosi; there is a section dedicated to architecture and design with works signed by Gae Aulenti, Mario Botta, Achille Castiglioni, Luciano Gemin.
