Why is there a bunch of flowers hanging from the ceiling of Palazzo Querini Stampalia?

For The Venice Glass Week, Fondazione Querini Stampalia invites you to Gazing upwards a creativity lab to discover one of the most striking glass art objects of its collection: the polychrome ‘a ciocca’ chandelier, also known as “Rezzonico”.

This nineteenth century masterpiece reinterprets the creations of the Murano glassmaker Giuseppe Briati (Murano 1686 - Venezia 1772). Hollow glass, transparent and colored, imitates nature to illuminate the Palazzo’s portego with its reflections.

The dangling bunch of flowers becomes an inspiration to create a sculpture made of Murano glass beads, paper and iron wire, and animated by movement and the play of light and its reflections.

Craft materials are provided by MPI Glass Art Gallery - Marco Polo International.
