Since its foundation, Fondazione Querini Stampalia has always represented a culturally up-to-date centre for the city. In particular, a rich program about contemporary art has been developed during the years.
First of all, Fondazione's cultural program includes some exhibitions:
In conjunction with the International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale, the Foundation invites some important artists to create their site-specific project starting from Fondazione Querini Stampalia's areas, its history and works. Among the artists: Lothar Baumgarten, Ilya & Emilia Kabakov, Kiki Smith, Mona Hatoum, Marisa Merz, Jimmie Durham.
The attention paid to the comparison between the past, which is so strongly felt at Querini Stampalia, and the thoughts of contemporary artists characterizes also Preserving the future, a rich program developed in cooperation with the Veneto Region and other partners. Some names: Margarita Andreu, Giuseppe Caccavale, Elisabetta Di Maggio, Candida Höfer, Giulio Paolini, Remo Salvadori, Anita Sieff.
There are many other seminar and performative activities with names belonging to the fields of literature, poetry, architecture, dance. Paying attention to emerging Italian artists and to the most original creativity of our Country, Fondazione starts and promotes FURLA Art Award.
