Elisabetta Di Maggio
Permanent work in Sala Giuseppe Jappelli of Fondazione Querini Stampalia's Museum
2005
curated by Chiara Bertola
Time is the basic element of Elisabetta Di Maggio's precious work, like in her pieces made of ice and soap.
She carves the plaster of one of Sala Jappelli's corners, in the Museum, decorating it with arabesques, like the ancient fabrics used in the rooms of the Palace a long time ago. The artist travels through time exploring the different phases of the plaster's stratification on the wall.
The artist tries to link together the past, the present and the future together in a delicate way, inventing maps with unlikely archipelagos to cross with the eyes.
