Giulio Paolini
L’ora X
27 March - 4 June 2004
curated by Chiara Bertola
Giulio Paolini was a leading figure in Minimal Art, Arte Povera and Conceptual Art in the 1960s and is one of the protagonists of the International avant-guarde. He has always been involved in intellectual discussions about linguistic codes and art conventions.
The site-specific project at Fondazione Querini Stampalia is given by the reflection among the artist, his work and the visitor: it is an exploration of the creative process, from the creation of the art piece to its exhibition.
Paolini's work has created a new dialogue between the present and the past amid the area restored by Carlo Scarpa on the ground floor and the 18th-century interiors on the second floor.
Paolini has involved also the exhibition areas, so as all the materials used (easels, drawings and reproductions, glass surfaces, polyhedral… crystal) are included and include at the same time the architectural structure which contains them.
