Lothar Baumgarten
Allora, Dunque
8 June - 26 September 2001
curated by Chiara Bertola
Collateral event of 49th International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale
The exhibition Allora, Dunque celebrates the City of Venice through various images, highlighting its history, architecture, space and in particular its chimneys.
Renown German conceptualist artist Lothar Baumgarten suggests to look at the City of Art par excellence with a new and poetic eye through this project.
More than thirty white and black images of chimneys on the Venetian roofs are screened on the exhibition's white walls, like in a sort of ideal dialogue with people at the Palace's windows.
In occasion of the exhibition, the magazine "Allora, Dunque" with Lothar Baumgarten's texts has been printed.
