Margherita Andreu
Entrambi luoghi (Both the places)
November 29th 2004 – January 31 2005
curated by Chiara Bertola
The exhibition describes through photography the spaces created by Carlo Scarpa at the Fondazione Querini Stampalia between 1959 and 1963. It aims to directly relate the subject to photographs themselves.
Thanks to Margarita Andreu, the work of the Venetian architect is described through a linguistic dimension based on immateriality and emptiness, the reflection of light, the geometric shapes of the constructive modules, the stiffness of the architectural structures, the brightness of steel and glass.
The reflection of spaces on the glass surface allows the Catalan artist to align pieces of real space with visions of the reflected one, in one frontal perspective and a disorienting balance. Everything is so transformed, and the image at the basis of Scarpa’s disposition of spaces emerges from this exhibition of photographs with all its rhythm, neatness and geometric shapes, highlighting details.
