The Mazzariol Fund was created in memory of Giuseppe Mazzariol (Venice, 1922-1989), both for his intense activity as an academic, professor, contemporary art and architecture critic, and for his devoted and prodigious contribution to the Querini Foundation as its president from 1957 to 1974.

Under Mazzariol, the Querini Foundation was transformed into what was first envisioned in Count Giovanni Querini Stampalia's will: a place for meetings, debates and cultural events open to the public. During his presidency, Mazzariol brought to completion renovations to Carlo Scarpa's Palace (previously called Manlio Dazzi), involving many artists belonging to the artistic and cultural world of those years.

In 1992, on the third anniversary of his death, the Querini Foundation organized an exhibition with the intent of continuing the course outlined by Mazzariol's work, with over two hundred publications, as well as many exhibitions and cultural initiatives. On that occasion, a Fund was dedicated to Mazzariol composed of works donated to the Querini Foundation by many of his friends.

The Mazzariol Fund includes works signed by Edmondo Bacci, William Congdon, Mario Deluigi, Mark di Suvero, Paolo Dorigo, Virgilio Guidi, Le Corbusier, Gino Morandis, Zoran Music, Fabrizio PlessiAlberto Viani, Luciano Vistosi; a section dedicated to architecture and design features works signed by Gae Aulenti, Mario Botta, Achille Castiglioni, and Luciano Gemin.
