Accessibility to the Fondazione

BEFORE YOU VISIT

Tickets
Tickets can be purchased online or from the Fondazione Ticket Office. Visitors with disabilities, plus a companion, receive free entry.

How to reach us
The Fondazione can be reached via the ACTV vaporetto stops Rialto and San Marco-San Zaccaria.

Entering and exiting the Fondazione
The main entrance (Venice, Castello 5252), on Campo Santa Maria Formosa, can be reached by crossing a bridge with 14 steps (7 going up and 7 going down). No ramps or lifts are available.
There is a second entrance (Venice, Castello 4793/4794) located on Corte Nova that is step-free. When you reach this entrance, ring the bell or call +39 041 2711411. Our staff will come and help you to enter.

Luggage
Bags, rucksacks and luggage can be left in the free cloakroom on the ground floor, subject to space being available.

Animals
Only guide dogs and pet therapy animals are allowed to enter, upon presentation of a doctor’s certificate. BauAdvisor dog sitting service available.

DURING YOUR VISIT

When you arrive, you will be given a map of the rooms with some information about the building, the tour route and a short explanation about the history of the Fondazione and collections.

Wheelchairs and seats
Two standard manual wheelchairs are available for use free of charge and without having to be booked in advance. To request one, please go directly to the security guard at the entrance. Motorised wheelchairs are admitted.
Folding chairs are available upon request for any visitors who cannot be on their feet for long periods.

Toilets
Toilet facilities can be found on the ground floor. There is an adapted toilet for people with disabilities on the ground floor as well.

Accessibility to different floors
The Fondazione is equipped with lifts. There is a lift on the ground floor (door width 0.90 m) that goes to all the floors in the building.
The Ticket Office, Coffee Bar, Bookshop, Auditorium and Multipurpose Rooms are all on the ground floor and fully accessible.

Ground floor: Scarpa Area and garden
The spaces on the ground floor, including the garden, designed by Carlo Scarpa are protected cultural heritage, and therefore it is not possible to make any modifications to overcome the existing architectural barriers. These spaces have obstacles to mobility such as steps and narrow corridors that, unfortunately, make them inaccessible to wheelchair users or people with mobility difficulties.

First floor: Library
The Library can be reached using the lift.

Second floor: House Museum
Can be reached using the lift. The route we suggest is circular and passes through the rooms of the House Museum.
There is a step (16 cm high) between Room II (Portrait Room) and Room III (Music Room). This obstacle can be bypassed via alternative routes that also make it possible to reach all the rooms.
Our staff will be happy to help should you require any assistance.

Third: Intesa Sanpaolo Collection and Exhibition spaces
Can be reached using the lift.
These spaces are fully accessible.

Accessibility projects
